Beginner’s Oil Painting Workshop

Duration 3 hrs.
Time 9-12
Instructor: Karen Walton
While learning to use your brushes
and paint, we will:
1.
Make a color wheel by mixing the three
primary colors (red, blue & yellow)
2.
Make a tonal chart (lights and darks) using
one color, white black or panes of grey.
3.
Study composition and texture while
beginning a small painting of an apple.
Bring to Class:
Oil Paint (an inexpensive set is fine)
Brushes ( inexpensive set for oil painting)
Palette or Styrofoam plate
Palette Knife (smaller size for mixing paint)
Small Canvas or canvas board 8 X 12 or 12 x 14
Rag or paper towels
odorless Thinner ( I use Turpenoid which is hard to find and expensive.
I can provide this for 50 cents a jar)
Easel will be provided
wear old clothes or a cover-up
